Obituaries

Body Robert “Mac” Lee McClellan, 68, of Excelsior Springs, MO, gained his wings July 31, 2022 at North Kansas City Hospital.  He was born Nov. 25, 1953 to Gerald Eldon and Mary Joan (Douglas) McClellan in Brookfield, MO. His father preceded him in death. 

Body Bruce Myron Hurshman, 63, of Henrietta, MO, passed away at his sisters, Denise and Steve Hopkins, residence on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, after a long road of battling cancer.   He was born on Mar. 21, 1959, in Ray County, the son of Kenneth and Rosela Hurshman.

Body James M. Shirky of Roanoke, VA, died July 24, 2022. He was born Feb. 20, 1933, to Henry Clay Shirky and Noreen Leyda Shirky in Norborne, MO. He graduated from Richmond (MO) High School, the University of Missouri, and UCLA. He taught Humanities at Stephens College for 36 years.

Body Shirley Ann Kinnard, 85, of Richmond, died on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Liberty Hospital.  Shirley was born on Sept. 26, 1936, in Kirksville, the daughter of Clyde Vernon and Opal Loraine (Aggans) Allen.  She was united in marriage to George Lee Kinnard of Kansas City on Sept.

Body Faye Marie Jackson, 83, of Richmond, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.  Faye was born in Pekin, IL, the daughter of Don and Tillie Burnham.  She was united in marriage to Robert Deakin of Pekin, IL, on Aug. 19, 1955; they later divorced.

Body William J. Taylor, 83, of Ozark, MO., was born Aug. 14, 1938 and died July 1, 2022. 

Body Joseph Glen “Joe” Osborne, 41, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 24, 2022, at his home.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Joe Osborne Memorial Fund.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O.

Body Rosella Pearl (Cline) “Rose” Swafford died Sunday, July 24, 2022, at North Kansas City Hospital.  Rose was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Luke William Cline and Lottie Belle (Rodgers) Cline.  She was united in marriage to Charles Austin Swafford on Oct.

Body Cleo Frances Hayes, 91, of, Richmond, died Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.  Cleo was born on February 28, 1931, in Carrollton, the daughter of Frank and Ora (Austin) Snyder.  She was united in marriage to James E.

Body Michael Eugene “Mike” Mansell, 75, of Gladstone, formerly of Orrick, died Saturday, July 23, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family.  Mike was born on June 30, 1947, in Kansas City, the son of Elton Eugene and Joanna Jean (Hughes) Mansell.
