Michael Eugene “Mike” Mansell, 75, of Gladstone, formerly of Orrick, died Saturday, July 23, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family. 

Mike was born on June 30, 1947, in Kansas City, the son of Elton Eugene and Joanna Jean (Hughes) Mansell.  He was united in marriage to Sandra Sue “Sandy” Jeffries of Orrick on December 30, 1964; she survives of the home. 

Additional survivors include: two sons, Randy Alan (Dana) Mansell of Kearney and Shawn (Heather) Mansell of Kansas City; seven grandchildren: Brandon (Emili) Mansell, Emma Mansell, Olivia Mansell, Sarah Mansell, Kayla Rain (Leif Welch) Mansell, Miranda Mansell, and Alex Mansell; and eight great-grandchildren: Kirra Mansell, Luke Mansell, Lane Mansell, Pierson Barklage, Wynter Barklage, Cade Johnston, Alice Welch, and Violet Welch. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alana Mansell. 

Mike was reared and educated in Orrick and graduated from Orrick High School.  He worked for Ford Motor Company for 38 years and retired in 2002; Mike went from line assembly worker to maintenance clerk.  He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union #249.  Mike was also a volunteer firefighter for the Orrick Fire Department for 20 years and was instrumental in forming the new fire department; He was also an EMT.  Mike’s faith played a significant part in his life; he was a member of the Orrick Christian Church, where he was an elder and Sunday School teacher for 30 years.  Mike was also a member of the Orrick Masonic Lodge and the Orrick Lions Club, where he served as president in the past.  He was an avid collector of coins and of necessary parts to fix just about anything. 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Orrick Christian Church Backpack for Kids.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085. 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M., until service time, with a Masonic service at 6:45 P.M., prior to services, at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Southpoint Cemetery, Orrick.  Please remember to share your memories of Mike with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
