Kathryn Adams

Kathryn Eudora (Clark) Adams, 87, of Richmond died Aug. 14, 2026, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living. Kathryn was born Oct. 6, 1938, in St. Joseph to James “Jim” Clark and Dixie (Gotschall) Clark. She loved growing up on a farm near Ford City, riding horses; playing with cats and her dog Roger, who could catch a batted baseball; and helping her dad. She graduated in 1956 from King City High School and married Thomas Adams, her high school sweetheart and classmate. They were married 53 years until Tom’s passing. To this marriage were born two children, Julia Kay (Adams) Day and Jeffery Thomas Adams.

In addition to her husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Baby Adams.

She is survived by Julie Day and husband Doug of Liberty, and their children, Abigail Day and Megan Day of Minneapolis; Jeff Adams and wife Kimberly of Clinton, and their children, Zachary Adams and wife Krista; her great-granddaughter, Blakely Adams; her granddaughter, Hannah Edwards and husband Keaton of Liberty; and her grandson, Noah Adams of Clinton.

Kathryn graduated in 1960 from Northwest State College (now Northwest Missouri State University) in Maryville with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education. She taught for a year in Illinois before moving to Fairfax and then moving in 1964 to Richmond.

She was a longtime substitute in the Richmond R-XVI School District, where she worked as a kindergarten aide.

She taught piano from home for more than 50 years. She was an excellent seamstress and knitter, and gifted organist and pianist.

She loved auctions. She ran several antique booths. She made doll clothes and stuffed animals. She also made sugar cookies for the boys of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

She loved everything about Christmas, especially giving gifts. As the wife of a football coach for more than 40 years, she logged the miles to the games, rooting on the Spartans, and always supporting Coach Adams and his love of teaching, coaching and FCA ministry.

She cherished being Grandma and Nana by attending numerous sporting events, musical theater productions, church events, band concerts and art shows over the years.

Kathryn was a woman of faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom she served as a member of the First Christian Church, King City; and then at the First Christian Church Disciples of God, Richmond, which became part of the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church. She also assisted Tom in the FCA huddle and on numerous trips to the YMCA Camp of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colo.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church or the Richmond Education Foundation.

Visitation with funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 21, at the United Presbyterian Church in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and the services to follow at 11. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. following the services at the church in King City Cemetery.
