Emma Grace Plonski, 4-month-old infant daughter of Anthony Thomas and Courtney Lane (Snider), Plonski, III, of Hardin, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at her home.  She is loved dearly and will be missed always.

Donald Peery

Body

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Donald Peery who passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 6:03 p.m. at North Kansas City Hospital. Elston and Anna Mae Peery welcomed Donald Glenn into the world on November 3, 1937. Don graduated from Excelsior Springs, MO in 1955. He served six years in the Army National Guard as a cook. He carried his love of cooking throughout his life and became known by his family and close friends for his BBQ and his biscuits and gravy.

Gary Lee and Sandra Lou Proffitt

Body

Gary Lee and Sandra Lou Proffitt, 78 and 76, respectively, of Camden, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at their home. 

Gary and Sandra were united in marriage on July 10, 1963.  Gary was born on January 13, 1944, in Lexington, the son of Robert Glen and Dorothy Viola (Engelbrecht) Proffitt.  Sandra was born on December 4, 1945, in Reno, NV, the daughter of Jewell and Donna (Mortenson) Green.   

Kenneth Marvin Johnson

Kenneth Marvin Johnson, 82, of Richmond, died Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home. 

Kenneth was born on October 27, 1939, in Enon, the son of James Roy and Hazel (Williams) Johnson. 

Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth DeWayne Johnson of Independence; and Shane D. Johnson of Grain Valley; daughter, Sarah Beth Melton of Sparta; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl Dean Johnson, and Gary Neal Johnson.

Karen Sue Luehrman

Body

Karen Sue Luehrman, 69, passed away on June 2, 2022. Karen was born on April 1, 1953 to Grover Eugene Fales and Mildred May Davidson in Richmond, MO. Karen graduated in 1971 from the Richmond High School in Missouri. Karen met the love of her life, Donald Luehrman in High School and they later married on April 20, 1972. She went to work for the United Telephone Co. until she retired. Karen loved her family dearly. She was their loudest cheerleader. Karen leaves behind a legacy of love, for family, love for cooking and being a blessing to many.

Nadine Battagler

Nadine Battagler, 97, of Orrick, MO, died Friday, June 3, 2022 in Springfield, MO, surrounded by her family and friends.  Nadine was born in rural Ray County Missouri on May 26, 1925 to Charles  and Bessie (Shumate) Peters. Nadine was the youngest of five children. She married Wilbur Battagler on December 22, 1945. Together, they had three children, Marilyn Kay, Karen Sue, and Donnie Kent.

Connie Sue Cunningham

Connie Sue Cunningham, 73, of Hardin, died Friday, June 3, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. 

Connie was born on March 29, 1949, in Sugar Tree, the daughter of Henrick Frederick and Alberta Louise (Lane) Eiserer.  She was united in marriage to Malcolm Dale Cunningham of Hardin on June 26, 1987; he survives of the home. 

Additional survivors include: son, Justin (Pam) Cunningham of Hardin; and three grandchildren: Geofrey Cunningham, Madison Cunningham, and Alle Mae Cunningham. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Shelly Lorriane Woodroof

Body

Shelly Lorriane Woodroof, 59, of Corder, died Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Centerpointe Medical Center in Independence, with her loving companion of 20 years, Charles, by her side. 

Shelly was born on October 21, 1962, in Ray County, the daughter of Donald Levi “Don” and Della “Marie” (Sanner) Palmer. 

Survivors include: her companion, Charles Gilbert of the home; brother, Donald Levi Palmer, Jr. of Marshall; sister, Anita (Greg) Rhoades of Richmond; nephew, Christopher Hankins; niece, Amy Stevens; aunt, Mary Minnis; and cousin, Janet Kraft.
