Giving up multi-run innings has hurt Richmond to start the varsity softball season, according to Spartans coach Trent Thompson and pitcher/infielder Elizabeth Wood. Thompson and Wood agreed that was the case Monday, when the Spartans fell to Lexington at Southview Park in Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division action.

For Trent Thompson, Richmond is like home. Thompson, a former high school and college baseball player, is Richmond’s new varsity softball coach.

Once again, Orrick has a quarterback who can run with the football. Senior Jonathon Harris, a stateplacing hurdler, will lead Orrick’s offense.

Mackenzie Ketterman hopes to end the revolving door of Orrick varsity volleyball coaches. Ketterman, the coach of Orrick’s junior high program last season, was chosen to replace Tanner Lowrey, who left after one season.

Cross country participation is growing at Hardin-Central. As of last week, Bulldogs coach Jenni Scott reported there were 10 total runners for grades 7-12 – five high schoolers and five in junior high.
