Last week, Richmond Middle School (RMS) students and staff celebrated the end of Maximum Performance Test (MAP) testing. The RMS staff has been incorporating incentives for not only good behavior but also better grades.

All over America, on Thursday, May 4, at noon in their time zones, people gathered publicly to pray as a nation: It was National Day of Prayer. The theme this year was “Pray Fervently in Righteousness”. Ministers from the churches in and around Richmond met at the Ray County Courthouse, leading all who came to pray.

As a local family fights the battle of their life, the Richmond community continues praying for a little one of its own. Nine-year-old Presley Minnick was diagnosed with chondroblastic osteosarcoma, a rare cancer.

Baby showers are a time to show support for the mother- and father-to-be, while also showering them with items needed for the new baby. A community baby shower was recently coordinated by Richmond’s Bridge of Hope Program and Executive Director Connie Taylor and held at Henrietta First Baptist Church.

At least 22 churches have a Richmond address, according to the City of Richmond website. 1. Broaden the view to include the Hardin, Orrick, Polo, Henrietta and Lexington areas, and that number climbs. We can see how significant religion is to Ray County. But what do all these churches do? Of course, they have Sunday services and regular activities for the members of the congregation to experience, but what are the churches up to in the community outside their walls?

As high school graduations near, high school seniors anxiously await news of scholarships and awards. Hardin-Central High School senior Chelsea Gant and Richmond High School (RHS) senior Brady Burgess were recently awarded the Ray-Carroll County Grain Grower Scholarship.
