Handicap accessibility has been a hot topic at Ray County Commissioners meetings in weeks past. A Rayville resident went before the group once more during a recent meeting, requesting parking restrictions be enforced at the Ray County Courthouse.

A complex issue concerning a $8,600 deficit in student meal accounts, created by families who left meal accounts unpaid for several months, remains unsolved by the Richmond R-XVI School Board. During a recent meeting, school board director of operations Jeff Southwick explained although some students accounts show a debt, they still receive a “free” breakfast or lunch, since the schools cannot let them go hungry.

Town and Country Leader and Richmond News’ graphic artist has garnered four more awards to add to her collection from the Missouri Press Association’s annual awards banquet. Karen Payne recently won four first-place awards for Best Full-Page Ad, Most Creative Use of Color in an Ad, Best Special Section and the Best Sponsored Content.

The Missouri Department of Public Safety has approved 428 grants totaling over $6.3 million to law enforcement, fire service and EMS providers across the state for new equipment, supplies, personnel and training last month, Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced.
