With the goal of preventing illegal abandonment of newborns by raising awareness, Missouri opened its first Safe Haven Baby Box (SHBB) last week in St. Louis. The baby boxes are an option to help struggling parents and families, which coincides with the Missouri Safe Haven Law. In Missouri, infants 45 days old or younger can be handed over to an employee at a police station, hospital, fire station, maternity home or pregnancy resource center.
