Dealing with any addiction is challenging, but not impossible, as the Ray County Drug Court program has proven. The Richmond courtroom was filled with family and friends of the program’s most recent graduate, Rickie Hicks, who is 490 days sober.

The Boy Scouts programs are beneficial for young men to learn life skills at a young age. Richmond area Boy Scout Troop 324 were sent off last week to the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation near Osceola, Mo. where they’ll have the opportunity to earn badges.

Area young ladies will vie for a scholarship and the title of Miss Ray County tomorrow night, with the event beginning at 7 p.m. in the Farris Theater.

Taking into consideration the community’s wants and the opportunities it would bring, Ideal Industries Incorporated (iii) opened a new and improved recycling center on Wednesday. Heather Pugh, executive director of the Richmond nonprofit organization, _____________________ declared the opening an “exciting time.” Funded through Mid America Regional Council (MARC) and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Pugh said iii teamed up with Show-Me Construction of Richmond, who built the structure.

In hopes of giving Ray County recognition, Orrick farmer Tom Waters and Precision Mazes Owner Rob Stouffer collaborated to make an a-maze-ing message for Taylor Swift. Swift played two nights at the Kansas City, Mo.
