Area young ladies will vie for a scholarship and the title of Miss Ray County tomorrow night, with the event beginning at 7 p.m. in the Farris Theater. A college scholarship opportunity exclusively for young women of Ray County, contestants must be enrolled in college or trade school for the fall semester to participate. Contestants will compete in four categories – interview, active wear, talent and evening wear. Scholarships are awarded to the top three placing girls and are sent directly to the winners’ schools. Scholarship money is collected through donations from local businesses and organizations, as well as through admission and raffle money collected the evening of the pageant. “We have many wonderful raffle items from local businesses,” said Miss Ray County Scholarship Pageant Executive Director Lisa Reed.
