School starts in a couple of weeks and with excitement, Dear Elementary Principal Dr. Marlaine Boyd wanted to share information regarding elementary school parking, keeping the construction at the early childhood center in mind “We will be managing traffic with the construction and of course the excitement that comes with a new facility. Traffic patterns may be different than previous years and our parking will be limited,” she said. “We just ask everyone to be extra cautious, read and follow the signs posted. Please allow extra time for pick up and drop off. Groundbreaking dates have not been set yet but once they are we will share the date and time with the community so that all can be connected to the excitement.”

As the school year approaches, shoebox packers are making use of back-to-school prices to purchase gifts and essential items for children in need around the world. Residents in Richmond are collecting school supplies, along with personal care items and toys, to pack in shoeboxes.

The Spartan Ridge at Southview Park disc golf course was a topic at Tuesday’s Richmond City Council meeting. The next stage of the course project involves creating concrete tees.

Going back to school is something to celebrate in the eyes of the Richmond R-XVI School District. They are celebrating with a third annual “Back to School Bash” on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 4-8 p.m. at the Richmond High School.
