Attempting to be ahead of the game for next summer, the Richmond City Park Board approved a $13,900 bid from Preservation Pools and Foundations Ltd. of Kansas City to replace pipes and valves to the slide at the Southview Pool during the Tuesday city council meeting. “We actually let this project go at the beginning of February. We were going to change the Southview Pool’s filters and butterfly valves. The current budget allocated $2,000 to replace two butterfly valves in the pool maintenance room and $15,000 available for the sand and gravel project,” said City Administrator Tonya Willim. William said before the pool opened this year, staff inspected the valves and filters in the chemical room. “If the sand in the filters is still flexible and shifting – it doesn’t need to be replaced, so we knew we were going to be able to hold onto the $15,000.
