A new business has opened in Richmond. Wood Shed Lumber & Hardware Supply, located at 900 Walton Way, occupies the building once filled by the Derstler Lumber Co.
Pursuit of a suspect last week led by the Ray County Sheriff’s Office resulted in an apprehension – and a two-vehicle accident. Cody Montez of Columbia is in custody in the Ray County Jail in Henrietta, Sheriff Scott Childers said during a Wednesday morning interview at the Richmond News offices.

Coach Kirk Thacker had to do less selling and less teaching of fundamentals during Orrick’s varsity 8-man football camp last week than he did when the Bearcats began offseason training last summer. In 2021, Thacker’s first season with program, the Bearcats “had a big learning curve and they were trying to learn” his system when they held their first camp, he said June 16 on Orrick’s practice field.
