RICHMOND – Nearly three dozen vehicles, owners and supporters gathered during the Richmond Mushroom Festival for the Mini Cooper Rally in front of the Farris Theatre, 215 W. Main St.

RICHMOND – Richmond Middle School sixthgraders and teacher Murray Dennis attended the Blue Springs School of Economics with several parent volunteers. The students had specific tasks and assignments prior to attending the field trip to get their shops set up.

A SECOND restaurant featuring Mexican cuisine, Taco Jalisco, has opened with food and liquor at 1006 E. Main St. in the former Oink and Moo building across from the Richmond School District’s offices. At front, Jesus Diaz is among the waiters who serve at the counter. The original Taqulia Jalisco restaurant, which has a more comprehensive menu, closed because of a fire and has remained closed longer than expected for repairs, but it is expected to reopen by the end of June. RICHMOND – Tradition, honor, memories, family, friends… Walt Smith, Lexington, bends and lays red and pink chrysanthemums at a grave to remember a man – a former patient, a friend, a veteran – on Memorial Day at Woodland Cemetery. Before retiring after more than 30 years, Smith worked as a physical therapist and in that role met and assisted Fred Newman.

RICHMOND – Tied votes for an uncontested Richmond City Council seat and in a Board of Education race did not give the public complete results after the April elections, something that might change June 7, barring another tie.

ODESSA – A chilly, windy day proved no match for Richmond’s Dayne Loftin when he ran the boys 110-meter high hurdles May 21 in Class 3 Sectional 4 competition at Odessa. Loftin, who just finished his junior year at Richmond, won the event in 15.3 seconds.

ODESSA – When Mackenzey Peach suffered an ACL tear last summer in high school softball, it left her wondering about her future in track and field. Flash forward to May 2022 and she is still competing in track – at least for one more meet.

ORRICK – A major connection to Orrick’s 2020 Class 1 state quarterfinal run, and back-to-back district titles in 2019 and 2020 in boys basketball is gone. Coach Matt Brownsberger announced in April he was leaving Orrick to teach and coach in Warsaw.
