Carrying grief together

Most people talk about grief from the inside, describing the way it feels to lose someone and how they personally work through it. Those stories are important, but lately I have realized there is another part of grief that doesn’t get as much attention. It is the experience of watching the people you love grieve at the same time you are trying to understand your own loss.

Dear Editor, In the Feb. 6, 2026, edition of the Richmond Daily News, Ray County Commissioners listed several areas of potential budget shortfalls, including infrastructure repairs on bridges, even with MoDOT 80% grant support through programs such as BRO. They also mentioned funding pressure for Ray County related to law enforcement and the jail, emergency management, hospital issues and necessary improvements for the Ray County Museum.

Dear Editor, Since January 20, 2025, President Donald J. Trump has been working around the clock to put American Farmers First after inheriting one of the toughest farm economies our country has faced in decades. Here in Missouri, farmers and ranchers know the challenges firsthand – rising input costs, volatile markets, extreme weather and years of policies that prioritize bureaucracy over producers.

A season worth remembering

When the final whistle blew and the scoreboard read a 10-7 loss for the Denver Broncos against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game, the silence in the room felt heavier than the snowfall outside Empower Field at Mile High. This was not how anyone drew the end of this season. This was not how a year of growth, resilience and unexpected hope was supposed to conclude.
