Body A new coaching era in Richmond varsity boys tennis kicked off Monday. That afternoon, the Spartans opened their season and Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division schedule with a 5-4 dual home win over Knob Noster – their first competition under Zachary Baldauf.

Body Murray Dennis’ presence is noticeable in Richmond’s boys golf program nearly a year after his retirement from teaching and coaching in the Richmond R-XVI School District. One way it’s evident is with his successor – Brandon Rittmiller.

Body Kaden McGinnis, Kalel Bowman and Brody Fifer have the chance to be repeat state champions in track and field this season. Last season, McGinnis, Bowman and Fifer ran on Hardin-Central’s winning boys 400- and 800-meter relay teams at Class 1 state competition.

Body Orrick’s new high school track and field coach brings a new training approach with him. Seth Smith, also the school district’s activities director, replaces Kirk Thacker, who stepped down from coaching varsity track and field, and 8-man football in September 2024.

Body Matthew Swigert is back as Orrick’s golf coach. Swigert led the program in 2023.

Body Orrick has a new varsity softball coach again. Aaron Rodenberg succeeds Chase Sims, who led the Bearcats in 2024.
