Tow rotation sparks heated discussion

Longstanding disagreements over towing rotations, dispatch procedures and response times resurfaced during a Ray County Commission discussion about a proposed towing resolution. Commissioners recently reviewed the draft resolution after previously hearing concerns from local towing operators about wreck chasing, dispatch procedures and confusion surrounding towing rotations in the county.

Upcoming fishing event connects youth, first responders

First responders from agencies across Ray County will soon trade flashing lights and emergency calls for a morning of fishing with local children. Hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation, the “Fishing with a First Responder” event was created to give families an opportunity to interact with first responders in a fun, non-stressful environment while introducing children to fishing and outdoor recreation.

THE RAY COUNTY COALITION recognizes Anna Garland (from left) of Richmond Middle School, the Hardin-Central business class and Layla Martin of Lawson Middle School as winners of the organization’s Youth Voices Contest. The Hardin-Central business class earned first place and $300 for a video entry, Martin received second place and $200 for artwork and Garland took third place and $100 for her poster entry.

Ending school year well is important

This time of year, backpacks are getting heavy, reminder messages and communications from every school platform are overly abundant and everyone’s patience seems to be wearing thin. The end of the school year is upon us and in its place come the plans and preparations for camps, summer school, summer jobs, church events, family reunions, concerts, baseball games, swimming lessons, summer projects, fishing outings, mowing and vacations.
