‘A HIGHER LEVEL’ Richmond senior Kaylee King looks forward to pushing herself in a few months. As the Richmond News recently reported, King has signed a letter of intent to attend and compete in women’s track and field at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg.

Richmond seniors Kaylee King and Jacob Johnson want to finish their respective high school track and field careers in Jefferson City. As has been the case for many years, Jefferson City will host state track competition.

The makeup of the squad Zach McGill is leading in his second season as Richmond varsity baseball coach is drastically different than his first. “We’re definitely a lot younger,” McGill said March 12.

A new coaching era in Richmond varsity boys tennis kicked off Monday. That afternoon, the Spartans opened their season and Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division schedule with a 5-4 dual home win over Knob Noster – their first competition under Zachary Baldauf.

Orrick’s new high school track and field coach brings a new training approach with him. Seth Smith, also the school district’s activities director, replaces Kirk Thacker, who stepped down from coaching varsity track and field, and 8-man football in September 2024.
