Body The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has named Claire Burch as the new conservation agent serving Ray County. A native of Lee’s Summit, Burch has lifelong experience in the outdoors, and since college, she has worked in the conservation field.

Body A $1,000 National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) grant has been awarded to Allison Coats of Richmond by Cencora Impact Foundation. Coats, a senior at Richmond High School, is currently the Richmond FFA chapter president.

Body Scientific research over time has shown an uptick in cardiac events during the winter holiday season, and more people die from heart attacks between Dec. 25 and January 1 than at any other time of the year.

Body Ray County Museum staff are taking full advantage of the slow winter months, organizing items the museum houses and planning for springtime activities when the weather abates. Museum director Cathy Gottsch gave an update regarding the building and artifacts.
