Early Childhood Center updates, underground work

Meth found during vehicle stop

Body A vehicle stop by Ray County Sheriff Deputy Cody Kay resulted in unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia charges in late February. After a 24-hour hold, the Kansas City man and a Carrollton woman were both released due to charges not being filed within the necessary time frame.

Local man charged in shooting

Body After yet another victim of gun violence was reported, Richmond City Police Officers were dispatched to the Ray County Hospital. The recent shooting of a Richmond man marks the second shooting in a matter of three weeks in the city.

Childers removed from sheriff’s office

Body After three years in office and nearly one year following the start of the Work Inmate Program, former Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers is under criminal investigation and is on paid administrative leave.

High school theater presents Little Women

Body Richmond High School (RHS) theater department is presenting its version of the play, Little Women, the Civil War story of love and family, based on Louisa May Alcott’s American classic. The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 1516, and at 2 p.m.
