ORRICK – Zach McGill is taking a fundamentals-oriented approach in his firs season as Orrick’s varsity girls basketball coach. “All aspects of the game, we need to work on – and that’s just part of being young and having minimal numbers right now with COVID going on,” McGill said Nov.

HARDIN – Morgan Bishop is new to being a head Hardin-Central varsity basketball coach, but not to coaching Hardin-Central basketball. Bishop moved up to varsity from the junior high program.

As prep winter sports get underway, I am filled with wonder. Not Buddy the Elf-like awestruck wonder that has me thinking, “Wow, winter sports are here!” More like a befuddled wonder that has me thinking, “I wonder what it will be like covering winter sports in a COVID-19 world.” There are specific issues I wonder about, too, as I enter this strange, new sports world.
