Reese McCartney gave himself a treat Halloween night. With 3 minutes, 47 seconds left in the fourth quarter of Orrick’s varsity 8-man football playoff meeting with Northland Christian, McCartney caught a two-point conversion pass from Xavior Gaskins – his first-ever two-point pass reception, he said.

Richmond’s varsity 11-man football squad is getting what wide receiver/ defensive back Malikiah Tharp considers a well-deserved break this week from competition. The Spartans and Maryville each have a first-round bye in the Class 3 District 8 Tournament, set to begin Friday with two games – Pembroke Hill vs.

Of Sydnee Burnett’s four seasons playing prep volleyball at Richmond, this one was her favorite. Burnett, a senior, made that assessment after the Spartans’ 3-0 season-ending loss to Oak Grove Oct.

With a goal line stand and some groundand- pound offense, Richmond made sure Knob Noster didn’t stage a fourth-quarter comeback – and that the Panthers didn’t finish their varsity 11-man football season undefeated.

On Oct. 16, Richmond did something no other school had done this varsity volleyball season: It took Carrollton to five sets.
