KANSAS CITY – The Spartans made their share of free throws against The Barstow School at Avila University in the Class 4 state boys basketball quarterfinals March 12. Barstow senior Connor Arment made his share, too, particularly late in the fourth quarter.

RICHMOND – Pem-broke Hill is no longer undefeated in boys basketball. And Richmond is in the state quarterfinals in boys basketball.

INDEPENDENCE – Another Richmond boys wrestling season is complete. The Spartans finished their latest campaign by placing 13th Wednesday in the Class 1 state tournament at Cable Dahmer Arena.

ORRICK – Varsity boys basketball coach Matt Brownsberger has many reasons to reflect fondly on this season, given his Bearcats’ achievements. “We repeated as district champions,” Brownsberger said Monday by phone.

HIGGINSVILLE – Richmond junior Conner Teat had several reasons to celebrate Feb. 27.

ORRICK – On Feb. 26, Orrick senior Ethan Wilson and his fellow Bearcats enjoyed the sweet taste of winning a second straight district boys basketball title when they defeated Southwest of Livingston County 62-52 at Norborne.
