RICHMOND – A mural depicting a Ray County farm from nearly 200 years ago is found on the building wall across from the Farris Theatre at West Main and South Camden streets. Ray County Community Arts Association President Melinda White said the association commissioned the work.

RICHMOND – Phasing out Ray Count Memorial Hospital’s home health program has gone “remarkably well,” Administrato Earl Sheehy said. As this newspaper reported earlier, the hospital’s Board of Trustees voted in July to phase out the program.

County’s coronavirus cases nears 4,500

RICHMOND – Coronavirus cases across Clay and Ray counties continue to mount, as is happening across the state and nation. In Clay County, the number of cases reported since the outbreak began stood Thursday morning at 4,439, with 57 people dead, based on numbers from the Clay County and Kansas City health departments.
Counties prepare for secure elections

LIBERTY – Election officials in Ray and Clay counties said they plan for secure, safe elections – free from violence some fear and guarding against COVID-19. “My office is doing what they’re supposed to do and if everybody else does what they’re supposed to do, we’ll have no problems,” Ray County Clerk Glenda Powell, the county’s chief election official, said.
