A traditional board game recently took on a new form as community members stepped onto a life-size Monopoly board and experienced the game firsthand. The event, hosted by Special Needs Services (SNS) of Ray County in Ray County Library’s community room, invited community members to take part in a large-scale version of the classic game designed to encourage connection, creativity and shared experiences.

The Ray County Museum offers opportunities to explore artifacts and exhibits ranging from a recreated kitchen to military displays reflecting the people and events shaping the county’s history. For nearly eight years, museum administrator Cathy Gottsch has helped keep those exhibits organized, preserved and accessible.

With no funding available to rebuild and concerns about falling debris, the Henrietta overpass has been approved for demolition. Ray County commissioners voted to move forward with the demolition during a recent meeting after months of discussion about the future of the structure.

A recent public forum hosted by the Ray County Sheriff’s Office in Camden brought residents together for an evening of questions, discussion and direct interaction with law enforcement. The forum was originally scheduled to be led by Sheriff Gary Blackwell, who was called away in response to an accidental death investigation.

Residents again pushed for answers from Ray County Commissoners regarding public records access and the enforcement of county regulations. During a recent commissioners meeting, discussion returned to the handling of potential violations of county regulations and the Sunshine Law request process.

The Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) is continuing to warn Missourians about ongoing scam text messages falsely claiming to be from the Missouri Department of Revenue or “Missouri DMV.” These fraudulent messages often state the recipient has received a “Final Enforcement Notice” regarding overdue traffic tickets and threaten penalties if payment is not made immediately.
