City council approves contract, emergency computer purchase

The Richmond City Council approved a $75,000 contract and formalized an agreement with Viero for the comprehensive Park Master Plan. Vireo is a landscape architecture, planning, and design firm with a team of landscape architects, city planners, public outreach specialists, graphic designers, conservation ecologists and environmental planners, according to www.bevireo.com.

Police officers awarded

Richmond Police Chief Scott Bagley recognized some of his officers with awards during an early February Richmond City Council meeting. With Richmond officers lining the rows of seating, Bagley gave Officers Derek Gardner and Brandon Peet the Life Saving Commendations and presented Corporal Tommy Rodriguez with the “2023 Officer of the Year Award.” The chief said the Life-Saving Commendation award not only represents what the officers do, but also their potential to save a person’s life.

Transitional housing ideas arise

The lack of transitional housing (TH) was the topic of one of the Ray County Commissioners meetings last week. Super Bowl mass shooting victim plans to ‘live life to fullest’

For a long-time Kansas City Chiefs fan, attending the Super Bowl and watching his team take home the trophy was a dream come true. The memories of that game will, however, be overshadowed by the gunshots that tore through the Super Bowl celebration, with one of those bullets grazing the lower back of the 13-year-old boy.
