Rosella Pearl (Cline) “Rose” Swafford died Sunday, July 24, 2022, at North Kansas City Hospital. 

Rose was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Luke William Cline and Lottie Belle (Rodgers) Cline.  She was united in marriage to Charles Austin Swafford on Oct. 17, 1952, in Richmond.  He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2015.

Cleo Frances Hayes

Cleo Frances Hayes, 91, of, Richmond, died Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. 

Cleo was born on February 28, 1931, in Carrollton, the daughter of Frank and Ora (Austin) Snyder.  She was united in marriage to James E. “Jim” Hayes of Carrollton on November 16, 1952; he preceded her in death on December 19, 2016.

Michael Eugene “Mike” Mansell

Michael Eugene “Mike” Mansell, 75, of Gladstone, formerly of Orrick, died Saturday, July 23, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family. 

Mike was born on June 30, 1947, in Kansas City, the son of Elton Eugene and Joanna Jean (Hughes) Mansell.  He was united in marriage to Sandra Sue “Sandy” Jeffries of Orrick on December 30, 1964; she survives of the home.

Pamela Sue McBride

Pamela Sue McBride, age 75, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on July 24, 2022.  She was born on July 2, 1947 the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy (nee Bowers) Rodenberg.  Pamela grew up in Cambridge City, Indiana and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965.  On August 20, 1967 in Cambridge City, Indiana she married Myron “Doc” McBride and together they had 2 children.  Pamela helped establish the Monfort Heights Animal Clinic with her husband.   She was happiest surrounded by family and friends, especially when attending and supporting her grandchildren’s activities.

William J. “Bill” Manley

William J. “Bill” Manley, 78, of Rayville, died Friday, July 22, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. 

Bill was born on May 31, 1944, in Kansas City, the son of Harry Eugene and Hazel Ruth (Johnson) Manley.  He was united in marriage to Pauline Henry of Lexington on April 16, 1966; she survives of the home. 

Additional survivors include: son, Kevin Manley of Gladstone, and daughter, Renea (Jim) Macaluso of Parkville. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rose Alice Callahan.

FAIR DAYS IN RAY

The Ray County Fair is in full swing this week with more than two dozen events and activities. The fair, which started July 10 with the 4-H/FFA Horse Show, continues throughout the week, wrapping up Friday with a rabbit show and small animal show at the Ray County Fairgrounds.

Memory Gardens decorations should be removed by Friday

Anyone with a decoration on a grave at Richmond Memory Gardens that isn’t in a vase must remove it by Friday, the city of Richmond stated July 13 on its Facebook page. “Richmond Memory Gardens understands and embraces the desire to pay tribute and respect to those that pass on before us, through the adorning of a loved one’s grave with flowers and appropriate seasonal decorations,” the city, which owns the cemetery, stated in the social media post.
