JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Supreme Court overruled Gov. Mike Parson and the majority of Republicans in the General Assembly who agreed to thwart the will of Missouri voters by refusing to fund Medicare expansion.

RICHMOND – Registered architect Shawn Harding offered professional, alarming observations on the state of the Ray County Jail – none of them complimentary. Harding described fundamental, lifethreatening flaws.

RICHMOND – Whether agreeing two years ago this month to allow a law firm to join in the national opioid lawsuit will pay off for Ray County remains unclear following a settlement reached last week between several states and pharmaceutical companies.

RICHMOND – There will be fewer places to vote in the Tuesday, Aug. 3 election, Ray County Clerk Glenda Powell said.

There will be a new Ray County Jail. The only question is whether to build it now by voting yes Tuesday or to kick it down the road, selfishly leaving others to do later what should be done now.
