Children benefit from Kiwanis

The Richmond Kiwanis Club has been active. Kiwanians want to serve the Richmond area and make it better. They provided a donation and volunteers for Richmond’s Trick or Treat Street (Halloween). Members volunteered to pick up litter in Hamann Park last fall.

School board hires firm

RICHMOND – The Richmond Board of Education is taking steps to improve facilities and instruction, Superintendent Greg Darling said. “We’re going to do a long-term facility plan,” he said, “so that we keep current.” The board voted to hire Hollis and Miller Architects, Kansas City, at a cost of $14,000 to provide a review as part of the district’s planning process.

Sheriff provides vehicle for emergency services

RICHMOND – The car is not new, but a used car will do for Ray County Emergency Management Coordinator Ryan Dickey. A few modifications expected to cost $400 and the cost of insurance are all that is needed to turn the used car into something he can use, Dickey told the Ray County Commission on Monday.

Commissioners accept bid from jail architect

RICHMOND – What seemed a surprisingly low bid for jail architectural service received unanimous Ray County Commission support Monday. The commission received a maximum bid of $5,000 from HMN Architects, Overland Park, Kansas.
