A local resident recently attended a Ray County Commissioners meeting to demand answers rather than ask questions. Only identifying himself as “ Raven”, the local man described a wave of frustrated residents and challenged Ray County commissioners over blocked access to public records, inconsistent publication of legal notices and a pattern of bureaucratic roadblocks that leave citizens in the dark.

A Richmond musician will be among the featured performers when the Grand River Valley Choir and Orchestra presents its 16th season finale, A Night at the Movies. String bass player Ben Suchman is one of 62 ensemble members participating in the concert.

A donated body scanner capable of detecting contraband hidden inside inmates may soon be operational at the Ray County Jail. However, the machine is currently being kept in storage as officials must first finalize appointments to the Law Enforcement Restitution Fund Board and jail renovations before authorizing funds for installation.

I never once saw him with an attitude or a smirk. Every time he came into the popcorn shop, it was nothing but fun and laughter. He truly made an impact, and no one deserves retirement more than Tony. Wishing him all the best in this next chapter!” Terehea Strider — “We will miss your kindness, your service with a smile and for just being a friend. There will never be another Tony. Thank you for all your dedication. You will be missed” Andi Dial — “No, not Tony retiring. Now, who will wave with a smile? We love our Tony.”

When a police officer is forced to make a split-second decision, there’s no pause button. But with Richmond’s newest training equipment, those highstakes moments can now be practiced safely, repeatedly and with the same tools officers carry every day on duty.

A recent professional milestone brought recognition to Richmond’s court operations, as the city prepares for a busy season of infrastructure projects, financial planning and facility repairs. Sarah Collins, the city’s court clerk, became a certified court administrator and was appointed Region Six director for the Missouri Association for Court Administration.

A routine cleanup event meant to honor the dead has raised new questions about ownership of the grounds they’re buried in. As Ray County commissioners prepared to join a cemetery workday later this month, they uncovered a deeper legal and historical issue: in many cases, no one can confidently say who owns the land being maintained.
