The library’s April 16 seed-starting workshop, the first in its new “Learn to Grow Your Food” series, drew attendees for a handson experience in gardening, education and community connection.

Richmond city leaders are prioritizing infrastructure improvements as they move ahead with key projects designed to strengthen utility systems and maintain essential services. Public Works Director Dale Shipp outlined the next steps in upgrading the city’s lift station, which include the purchase of pumps, controls, piping, valves and electrical components.
Veteran officer returns to police force

After nearly three years away from the badge, a familiar face has returned to the Richmond Police Department – and he’s bringing more than two decades of experience with him. Richmond Officer Todd Herdman first joined the department 26 years ago and rose through the ranks to the position of lieutenant before taking early retirement in 2022.
District approves raises, selects new officers

The Richmond R-XVI Board of Education unanimously approved salary increases for all employee categories for the 2025-26 school year. Certified staff will receive a base pay increase from $39,400 to $40,200. Classified employees – including aides, custodians, maintenance workers and secretaries – will see an increase of $0.25 per hour in their respective pay structures.

Ray County 4-H youth excel at state contest

Several Ray County 4-H members have been recognized for their knowledge and performance during the Missouri 4-H State Hippology Contest held in Columbia. The event, hosted by the University of Missouri (MU) Extension, drew 30 youth participants from across the state along with their coaches.
