The high school varsity football program isn’t the only one in Richmond that is nicknamed the Spartans and in a championship hunt. On Saturday, three Richmond teams in the West Central Football League will play for a league title (also called the Super Bowl) in Odessa – one consisting of third-graders, one comprising fourthgraders and one consisting of sixth-graders.
Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) will get another crack at Sweet Springs/Malta Bend in varsity 8-man football. The Aggies (4-5) will face the Greyhounds at 7 p.m.
A schedule change didn’t throw off Norborne Hardin-Central’s (NHC’s) performance on the gridiron Oct. 13 against Northwest of Hughesville/ Sedalia Sacred Heart in 8-man football action, J.W. Doyle and Anakin Grayson agreed.
On Tuesday night, Sara Brungardt, Kelly Jaggars and Alli Powell got to experience playing a regular-season volleyball match in the Richmond High School gym for the last time. With their teammates, the three seniors played Cameron to close the regular season.
KNOB NOSTER – Like Richmond’s 64-0 thumping of Carrollton in Week 6, the Spartans’ 48-0 Oct. 14 rout of Knob Noster allowed some younger players to get some second-half game reps.
