Richmond’s girls golf program had a leg up on last year when it began fall sports practices Monday at Shirkey Golf Course, second- year coach Courtney Sisson acknowledged. When Sisson succeeded Murray Dennis as coach in 2024, she was hired late in the summer, she recalled.

Orrick varsity coach Matt O’Dell continued resurrecting pieces of Orrick High School’s gridiron past when the Bearcats convened for their fourth and final week of offseason 8-man football camp. To cap the final camp session July 31 on Orrick’s practice field, the Bearcats played “hog ball,” a variation of two-hand touch football that allows two forward passes per play.

Richmond varsity coach Nick Persell was impressed with how his Spartans handled the rigors of four limited-contact scrimmage sessions in two weeks to cap their offseason 11-man football training. The Spartans started the schedule by scrimmaging July 22 with Pleasant Hill on the road.

Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson brought in a Hardin-Central coaching legend to help kick off the Aggies’ last week of offseason team activities. On Monday, just before the Aggies began running through drills on the practice field at Hardin-Central, Gary O’Neal spoke for about 10 minutes.
