Season continues for Farnan, ends for girls 800 relay team

ODESSA – Sophia Farnan could finish her high school track and field career with a state medal. Farnan, who graduated this month from Richmond, qualified for the Class 3 state meet Saturday at Jefferson City High School by placing third in the girls javelin at the Sectional 4 meet May 22 at Odessa.

Jefferson City bound

HIGGINSVILLE – Four area athletes are headed to the Class 1 state track and field meet. Orrick and Hardin-Central each qualified two athletes for the competition, slated for Saturday at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City.

Hamilton, Bowman punch tickets for Class 2 state golf tourney

RICHMOND – Timmy Hamilton will play his final rounds of high school boys golf at a course that holds special meaning for him. Hamilton, who graduates Sunday from Richmond High School, will play in Class 2 state competition, slated for May 17-18 at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar.

Six from Hardin-Central qualify for sectionals

CLEVELAND – The Bulldogs have found “a shiny diamond” in junior sprinter Korbin Pugh, Hardin-Central varsity track coach Kirk Thacker said. Pugh’s late-season performances in the boys 100-meter dash prompted Thacker to give him that designation.

Richmond relay team nears school record at invitational

Spartans reach top five at Richmond Boys Invitational

RICHMOND – Timmy Hamilton’s golf game clicked the last three holes of his round at the Richmond Boys Invitational. “I’d played bad enough up until that point that I was just like, ‘OK, I’m just going to kind of finish it out,’” Hamilton, a Richmond senior, said.
