You notice how every new year comes along and there is this amplified energy? Everyone and their mom renew their gym memberships and write down large goals which could be seen as “unattainable.” All mostly because it is the “new year.”

As the new year is ahead in view, the lessons learned this year have helped me through the trajectory of my life thus far. I have learned three main things this year and will share some details about each.

Have you truly thought your Christmas was gone before? In 2007, I thought the Grinch was real and he stole my Christmas. My family lived in Armourdale, KS and I attended John Fiske Elementary. I was an impressionable little girl and like all children, believed Santa Claus was ominous like God. My favorite Christmas movies were The Grinch, The Santa Claus movies and all stop-motion Christmas movies.

Social media has its positives and its negatives. One of the greatest positives, for me, has been the restoration of longago friendships from grammar school to college.
