Eagleton Center fee increase under review

Ray County Commissioners are considering a proposed increase in rental fees at the Eagleton Center as officials seek ways to offset ongoing maintenance costs and address recent building repairs. Eagleton Center staff member Bryan Couch presented the proposal to commissioners during a recent meeting, outlining the structure of the increase and potential for a portion of the additional revenue to be returned to the senior center board.

Voters to decide on MU Extension levy

Voters will soon decide whether to authorize a new property tax levy to support University of Missouri Extension programs during the April 7 municipal election. The ballot question asks: “ Shall the Extension District in Ray County be authorized to levy an annual tax of five cents per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the purpose of funding the University of Missouri Extension District programs (including 4-H youth, agriculture, business/community development, and health), education facilities, equipment and services in the district.” To provide voters with additional context about the measure, Ray County University Extension Council member Kaitlyn Rowan responded to a questionnaire from Richmond News.

Life-size Monopoly builds connection through play

A traditional board game recently took on a new form as community members stepped onto a life-size Monopoly board and experienced the game firsthand. The event, hosted by Special Needs Services (SNS) of Ray County in Ray County Library’s community room, invited community members to take part in a large-scale version of the classic game designed to encourage connection, creativity and shared experiences.
