Cavanah agrees to fly with Cards

Body RICHMOND – Layne Cavanah will continue catching passes on the football field. Cavanah, a Richmond High School senior and the son of Hardin-Central Superintendent Trey Cavanah, signed a letter of intent to play wide receiver at William Jewell College.

Area teams move through Class 1 districts

Body TINA – There are fewer area varsity basketball teams still standing. As of this writing, two of Ray County’s four Class 1 programs were still in the District 13 Tournament, slated to conclude Friday at Tina-Avalon.

’Cats, ’Dawgs prep for district hoops

Body TINA – The postseason is about to get underway for four area varsity basketball teams. The Hardin-Central boys and girls, and the Orrick boys and girls will play in the Class 1 District 13 Tournament, slated to get underway Saturday at Tina-Avalon.

Body HOLDEN– Richmond’s latest winning streak in varsity girls basketball has ended. After getting back-to-back wins to cap the Richmond Winter Classic, a Feb.

Orrick tumbles twice

Body ORRICK – The Bearcats dropped their two varsity basketball games Tuesday night to visiting Sweet Springs/Malta Bend. The Orrick girls fell 48-27, putting them at 1-19 entering Wednesday’s non-conference road meeting with winless Lexington.
