When Orrick began its first summer 8-man football camp for the junior high and varsity programs Monday on the school practice field, Tucker Greer was thrilled to put on a helmet and shoulder pads and engage in some limited hitting.

New Hardin-Central varsity boys basketball coach August Hoeper and his Bulldogs faced bigger competition the second week of summer-league boys basketball in Lawson – both in terms of school size and bodies on the court.

On June 3, the Richmond High School Athletic Hall of Fame got bigger. That evening, this year’s Hall of Fame class was inducted with a dinner and ceremony in the high school commons area.

JEFFERSON CITY – Richmond graduate Dayne Loftin “loved every second of” his high school track and field career, he said. Loftin, however, admitted he would’ve loved it even more if it had ended differently.

JEFFERSON CITY – On May 27, Richmond’s Kaylee Pugh experienced what it’s like to receive a medal at a state high school track and field meet. That morning, Pugh finished eighth in the finals of the girls 100-meter dash in Class 3 state competition at Jefferson City High School.

In May, Mason Kusters ran his last race for Orrick High School. In a few months, however, he might run his first race in college.

WARRENSBURG – Dayne Loftin is doing something this weekend he has never done: He’s competing in two events at state competition in track and field. Loftin, who graduated recently from Richmond High School, is scheduled to run in the preliminaries of the Class 3 boys 110-meter high hurdles at 11:35 a.m.
