Local man charged in shooting
After yet another victim of gun violence was reported, Richmond City Police Officers were dispatched to the Ray County Hospital. The recent shooting of a Richmond man marks the second shooting in a matter of three weeks in the city.
On March 8, David J. Ramey, 20, of Richmond was charged with seven felonies of armed criminal action, first-degree assault, unlawful possession of firearm, possession of a controlled substance and three unlawful uses of weapon.
Initial statements obtained indicated an incident had occurred in the 100 block of East Black Diamond and the victim identified the shooter as Ramey, stated Richmond City Chief Scott Bagley.
“The investigation is ongoing; however, this is the second incident in less than three weeks involving gun violence in Richmond that could be easily avoided. With the filing of charges, Ramey is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” said Bagley.
