RICHMOND – Sales of surplus Sheriff’s Office vehicles added money to the Ray County operating fund. Sheriff Scott Childers sold four vehicles: a bus, a former military vehicle, a Dodge Charger and an SUV.

RICHMOND – The Ray County Community Arts Association acknowledged supporters during the Ray County Bicentennial Mural dedication Sunday in downtown Richmond. Before Sam Welty had painted the mural and before Patricia Pierce had created the sketch, the vision for the painting came from a former association member, Lana Zeikle, who has since died, association President Melinda White said.

RICHMOND – The Ray County Community Arts Association dedicated the Ray County Bicentennial Mural on Sunday in downtown Richmond. Painted by Sam Welty of Norfolk, Virginia, the mural depicts Ray County in the time of the state’s founding in 1821.

ORRICK – Pomp and circumstance await the Bearcats as they return to the gridiron after an unexpected bye week. As this newspaper reported, Orrick was slated for a Week 3 road trip to play Concordia in varsity 8-man football.

SEDALIA – A couple of dozen youngsters and adults at the Missouri State Fair played the role of assembly line workers. They worked next to a conveyer belt to place boxes of cereal, jars of peanut butter and cans of vegetables – and assorted other food items – into large boxes sent down the line to pack for hungry children statewide.

RICHMOND – Superintendent Greg Darling – who said Monday he does not like masks – lamented education had just started to get back on track when the Delta variant led to a surge in COVID-19 cases.
