’Cats back in action for homecoming gridiron clash
ORRICK – Pomp and circumstance await the Bearcats as they return to the gridiron after an unexpected bye week.
As this newspaper reported, Orrick was slated for a Week 3 road trip to play Concordia in varsity 8-man football. COVID, however, forced the Central River Conference I-70 Division meeting to be called.
For their return, the Bearcats will face the Braymer/Breckenridge co-op at 7 p.m. Friday at Simmons Field for Orrick’s homecoming.
Several Bearcats will be part of the king and queen coronation festivities. The attendants include freshman running back/defensive back Jeff Rohde and sophomore tight end, wide receiver and linebacker Hunter Spear.
In addition, the three homecoming king candidates are football players. Blake Buchanan, who will escort queen candidate Lauren Cox, is the starting quarterback and plays defensive back on defense.
