Body CHILLICOTHE – A quadricep injury last season and a hamstring injury earlier this season drove Jacoby Johnson to try to qualify for sectionals in high school track and field in “as many events as” possible, he said.

Body COLUMBIA – Aiden Bowman finished his career at Richmond as a top-20 golfer. Bowman, who graduated Sunday from Richmond, tied Butler’s Andon Cook for 17th among 81 finishers at the Class 2 state tournament, which wrapped Tuesday at Columbia Country Club.

Body ORRICK – After 18 years at Orrick, longtime coach and teacher Mitch Comstock has moved on. But he has not moved far away.

Body WESTON – Jonathon Harris is going to state in his first season of varsity track. The Orrick sophomore qualified in three events for the Class 1 state meet, slated for Friday and Saturday at Jefferson City High School.

Body RICHMOND – The latest Richmond High School Athletic Hall of Fame class is set.

Body WESTON – Korbin Pugh will run for Hardin-Central in at least one more race. Pugh, who graduated May 8, qualified for this weekend’s Class 1 state track and field meet in Jefferson City by placing second in the 100-meter dash in 11.

Body RICHMOND – For the second straight year, Aiden Bowman, a senior, will play in a state boys golf tournament.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Another Orrick golf season is finished. The Bearcats ended their season Monday at the Class 1 District 4 Tournament at Excelsior Springs Golf Course.

Body CLEVELAND – A 40-year-old Hardin-Central boys track record fell May 7 at Class 1 District 6 competition. On the Midway School District campus, Korbin Pugh won his preliminary heat of the 100-meter dash in 11.4 seconds and then the finals in 11.11.
