Variety is spice of latest girls tennis sessions
Spartans tennis coach Zachary Baldauf is getting in some more offseason training with his potential netters before Richmond enters its dead period for athletics Saturday.
Baldauf is set to conclude his morning sessions Friday at Maurice Roberts Park. He’s offered sessions for two straight weeks this month.
Like the sessions offered in May and June, the July sessions have been conducted in two blocks – the first for potential girls players, the latter for boys. During the first week of the girls sessions, there were “different people showing up on different days,” Baldauf said July 23.
Soon-to-be freshman Eva Moyer was part of that mix. Team tennis is new to Moyer, but the sport isn’t.
“I play around with my family sometimes,” she said July 23.
The enjoyment of family tennis prompted Moyer to try high school tennis, she said.
“I thought it would be more fun to play with more people around the area and just for the school and get more practice in,” Moyer said.
