Tennis players Dantin McBee and Aiden O’Dell recently set aside their rackets to test their marksmanship.

O’Dell and McBee, who are members of both the Millville 4-H Club and the high school boys tennis program at Excelsior Springs, competed in shooting sports at the Ray County Fair in Richmond. McBee competed in archery, winning the Best Overall award for both archery and all shooting sports. Best Overall awards go to individuals with “the highest percentage of score,” he explained.

O’Dell competed in trap shooting, hitting 74 clay pigeons out of 100 shots and winning the Best of Show Reserve and Grand Champion awards for shooting sports. Overall, O’Dell said he performed well, but added he didn’t perform as well as he had in 2025.

“I’ll keep working on it to get better,” O’Dell said.
