RHS running backs ready to mix it up at scrimmages

Richmond underclassmen Savion Webb and Ryan Sharp were eager to do some football scrimmaging this week.

Webb, Sharp and their fellow Spartans were slated for some scrimmaging Tuesday with Pleasant Hill at Pleasant Hill. It was to be structured as “kind of a joint practice, basically,” Richmond varsity coach Nick Persell said after a team camp session Monday on the Spartans’ practice field.

At press time, Richmond was scheduled to participate in limited-contact scrimmages against other smaller class schools Thursday at William Jewell College in Liberty.

“I’m ready, because last year, I didn’t get to go to these things due to a knee injury,” Webb said. “But I’m ready to get out there and just try as hard as I can and hit some people.”

“I definitely am ready,” Sharp said. “I got a little taste of it on, like, the JV side last year. But I’m excited to do it on varsity now.”
