A new era is underway with Richmond in varsity baseball. The Spartans kicked off their season last weekend in tournament play at Odessa, going 1-2.

Hardin-Central track coach Andrew Watson and his Bulldogs want to push themselves this season. “We’ve added some meets to our schedule this year,” Watson said March 14.

Chase Sims wanted to coach Orrick High School softball for one primary reason. “I wanted these girls to have a season,” Sims said March 12.

An injury shortened Sydney Appleberry’s high school softball career, but it won’t stop her from playing beyond high school. On March 15, the Richmond senior formally signed her letter of intent in her high school gym to study and play softball at Moberly Area Community College (MACC).

Richmond football coach Nick Persell called Feb. 29, 2024, a “great day to be a Cardinal.” The reason the coach at a high school whose mascot is the Spartans said that is because he’s also a graduate of William Jewell College, whose mascot is the Cardinals.

Kail Farnan’s entry into college football is similar to his entry into high school football. Farnan, who’ll graduate in May from Richmond High School, formally signed his letter of intent Feb.
