RICHMOND – The Spartans rammed full sail into Pembroke Hill and NCAA Division I FBS prospect Quinton Conley, sinking the Raiders 52-8. The Spartans forced six turnovers – a fumble grabbed by Hayden Happy; Tanner Bennett blocked a punt, leading to Trey Duncan’s fumble recovery; and Layne Cavanah, Eli Steele, Hunter Mitchell and Donivin Williams each plucked an interception.
RICHMOND – Kennedy Wrisinger considered her performance in Monday’s Odessa Tournament at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond a reminder of the importance of staying hungry and humble. After “a really strong week last week” that included medal-winning performances in match and tournament play, the Richmond junior speculated she was “probably a little too confident” when she started her 18-hole, par-71 round.
ORRICK – The Bearcats’ 90-58 Sept. 17 homecoming win over Braymer/ Breckenridge exposed some issues they must address, Orrick varsity 8-man football coach Kirk Thacker and senior Blake Buchanan agreed.
CHILLICOTHE – The Spartans have given Crystal Turner her first victory as Richmond’s varsity volleyball coach. After falling 2-0 to both Chillicothe and Excelsior Springs, Richmond swept Penney of Hamilton 2-0 Sept.
HIGGINSVILLE – Richmond’s 0-4 performance in the Husker Spikefest provided a reminder of the importance of consistency, varsity volleyball coach Crystal Turner said. “We can’t sustain play for several points, but then drop, OK?” Turner said.
RICHMOND – Girls tennis coach Brett Terry saw his young Spartans take baby steps during their 9-0 varsity dual loss Tuesday to Carrollton at Maurice Roberts Park. “They’re slowly improving.
