RICHMOND – A Richmond Middle School teacher left the district abruptly last Friday, but the district is not saying whether a racial slur led to the departure. The district did not fire the teacher, Superintendent Greg Darling said Monday, erasing part of a rumor that had been circulating within the community.

Metro residents hear rural areas denied internet

RICHMOND – Residents across the Kansas City metropolitan area had a chance to hear something on Channel 41 their rural neighbors have long known – many farm areas lack internet service. The lack of service creates problems for rural-area students and businesses, and anyone wanting to be enlightened or entertained, or to communicate through using the internet.

Teen joins youth team

RICHMOND – Richmond High School senior Joseph Martin, 17, Richmond, underwent a two-day orientation as a member of the American Battlefield Trust’s Youth Leadership Team, or YLT. Martin and 13 other teens will spend the next year engaged in an advocacy campaign to bring historic preservation, education and heritage tourism initiatives to his community.

Number of vulnerable children fed by program doubles
