License Plates Day celebrated

To celebrate License Plates Day on Tuesday, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum recently unveiled the first License Plate Bobbles. Bobbles for all 50 states were released and each bobble features the state’s current license plate design on a base with two large springs that provide maximum bobbling action for each license plate.

Orrick student receives sponsorship

Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is sponsoring one Ray County student for the 2023 session of Missouri Girls State, which affords attendees the opportunity to study city, county and state government. Orrick High School student Julia Sayegh will attend the annual event June 24-July 1 at Lindenwood University located in St. Charles. While at Missouri Girls States, which is offered to students who have just finished their junior year of high school, the girls compete for Girls Nation, which meets in July in Washington, D.C.

Commissioners approve new annex

The Ray County Collector and Assessor’s office’s plans of moving to a new location in Richmond has been approved, according to Ray County Assessor Linda Coleman and Ray County Collector Julie Chowning. An idea from 2020 is coming to fruition after steps from attorneys and approval from Ray County commissioners – all unanimously voting in approval of the offices potentially moving to Stonner Loop near Max Motors.

Repairs at park begin

With attention on Southview Park – the pool concession building is in need of repairs and plumbing work, said City council member Deanna Guy added at last week’s meeting. The restrooms and maintenance room need repairs and the building needs a main water service line replaced.

National 911 Public Safety Telecommunications Week celebrated

In light of last week’s National 911 Public Safety Telecommunications Week, Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston decided to spread kindness to local 911 dispatch. Johnston and the Ray County Prosecuting office took it upon themselves to gift donuts, flowers, gift cards and decals to the Ray County 911 Dispatch team.
