CLEVELAND – The Bulldogs have found “a shiny diamond” in junior sprinter Korbin Pugh, Hardin-Central varsity track coach Kirk Thacker said. Pugh’s late-season performances in the boys 100-meter dash prompted Thacker to give him that designation.

RICHMOND – Timmy Hamilton’s golf game clicked the last three holes of his round at the Richmond Boys Invitational. “I’d played bad enough up until that point that I was just like, ‘OK, I’m just going to kind of finish it out,’” Hamilton, a Richmond senior, said.

LEXINGTON – Blake Buchanan’s best boys javelin throw April 29 at the Bill Hamann Invitational at Lexington High School was a “solid throw,” Orrick varsity coach Paul Giffin said. “Not a pr (personal record),” Giffin said.

RICHMOND – The Spartans were stingy defensively during their latest homestand. In sweeping four varsity baseball games at Southview Park, the Spartans allowed only five runs.

KINGSVILLE – Orrick’s first win this varsity softball season was one for the record books. With their 37-23 April 21 road win over Kingsville, the Bearcats claimed the fifth spot on the state’s all-time list for most runs scored by one team in a game.
